How to use active recall flashcards — UK revision system
Flashcards fail when they are copied notes. Question on front, answer on back.
Seven moves. Cards that force recall.
- One fact per card. Not a paragraph. One question.
- Own words on back. If you cannot say it simply, you do not know it.
- Spaced pile. Daily / every 3 days / weekly. Move cards when earned.
- Say answers out loud. Silent reading lies.
- Cull easy cards. Do not waste sessions on what you already own.
- Paper or app. Either works. Consistency beats brand.
- Sunday review pile. Pair this with the Revision Timetable so subjects get booked hours.
