How to plan a training week when life is busy — UK
A training week fails when it assumes empty evenings. Plan the real calendar first, then put sessions where they fit.
Eight moves for a week you can actually finish.
- Open the week. Write work late nights, school runs, and one non-negotiable rest evening.
- Pick the goal. Strength, fitness, or showing up — choose one primary for 7 days.
- Count sessions. Three quality sessions beat five half-done ones. Cap at what the calendar allows.
- Assign days. Put hard sessions on lighter life days. Easy sessions beside late finishes.
- Time-box. 45–60 minutes door-to-door. Write start time, not “after work”.
- Prep the night before. Kit out, bottle filled, session written on one line.
- Track done, not perfect. Tick the session. Missed days get moved once — then drop.
- Printable. A Weekly Training Plan keeps the undated week, session types, and recovery note in one PDF.
