8 easy Halloween party games for kids

  1. Mummy wrap. Teams of 2 or 3. One person is the mummy; the others wrap them in toilet roll. 2 minutes. Best mummy wins (the grown-up judges). 1 roll per team.
  2. Monster freeze. Play music and everyone dances like a monster. When it stops, freeze. Anyone who moves becomes a judge. Last monster dancing wins.
  3. Pass the pumpkin. Players stand in a line and pass an orange (or small pumpkin) using only their chins and necks. Drop it and it goes back to the start.
  4. Witch's broom relay. Two teams, two brooms. Ride the broom to a chair and back, then hand it on. First team home wins.
  5. Feely boxes. Blindfold, then guess: peeled grapes (eyeballs), cold cooked spaghetti (worms), a wet sponge (brains), jelly (slime). Use a bowl and a tea towel over the top.
  6. Spider's web. Wind wool round chair legs across a room. Hide a sweet at the end of each strand. Each child untangles their own strand to find the treat.
  7. Doughnut challenge. Hang ring doughnuts on string from a broom handle held by two grown-ups. Eat one without using your hands.
  8. Ghost in the graveyard. Hide and seek in the dark garden with torches. The ghost hides; when found, they shout 'Ghost in the graveyard!' and everyone runs home.

Keep an eye on little ones with string and wool, use torches not candles in pumpkins near costumes, and check for food allergies before the feely boxes and doughnuts.

Spooky word search words

Questions

Are these Halloween party games really free?

Yes. It's a free 4-page A4 PDF with no sign-up and no email needed: 8 party games on one page, an easy spooky word search, a trick-or-treat spotter and a design-your-pumpkin page. Print as many copies as you need for your own party, class or group.

What age are the games for?

The games and sheets are made for children aged about 4 to 12. The easy word search has 8 words going across and down only, for ages 5 and up. Little ones need a grown-up close by for the games with string, wool and doughnuts.

What Halloween games can I play with things I already have?

Mummy wrap needs a toilet roll per team, pass the pumpkin needs an orange, the witch's broom relay needs two brooms, feely boxes use grapes, cold spaghetti, a sponge and jelly, and spider's web needs a ball of wool and a few sweets. Monster freeze just needs music.

Can teachers and group leaders use them?

Yes. They suit a Halloween class party, a half-term club, or a Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers or Cubs session. Photocopy as many as you need for your own group; please don't resell them.

Where do I get the rest of the pack?

These 4 pages come from the Halloween Party Games Pack (£2.49): 21 A4 pages including 12 different bingo cards with a caller sheet, a tricky 14-word search with answers, a 20-question Halloween quiz in 2 rounds with answers, a scavenger hunt, 30 would-you-rather cards and award certificates. Halloween is Saturday 31 October 2026.
