Tips to make it feel real

  • Print on cream or slightly thicker paper if you have it, and choose A4.
  • Fold the letter in three, write the child's name on the envelope in your best handwriting and use a red or green pen.
  • Leave it by the fireplace, the stockings or the tree so it is found on Christmas morning. Some families put it with a half-eaten carrot.
  • Add one tiny detail only your family would know, in the kind-thing box: a real one reads as magic.

Common questions

Is this letter from Santa really free?

Yes. Type the details, press the button and print the letter. There is no sign-up, no email and no watermark. If you like the planner we sell, that is optional.

Is anything saved or sent?

No. The letter is built in your browser from what you type. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere, so print or save it as a PDF before you close the page.

How do I print it?

Press Print the letter, choose A4 and, if your browser offers it, tick Background graphics for the border. Choose Save as PDF instead of a printer if you want a file.

What should I put in the 'kind thing' box?

One real thing the child did this year, such as helped with the washing up, shared a toy or was brave at the dentist. A short phrase works best, written as an action, for example 'helped Grandad in the garden'.

Can I use it for more than one child?

Yes. Change the name and details and press the button again, then print each letter separately. Add a sibling or pet name and it is mentioned too.

Does the letter promise particular presents?

No. It says Santa has read the child's list and the elves are busy, and it never promises a specific gift, so you stay in control on Christmas morning.

Can I add a handwritten touch?

Yes. Leave the bottom of the letter blank on purpose, then sign 'Santa' in different handwriting with a gold or red pen. A little sprinkle of glitter, shaken off, adds to the look.
